Why Hire Me?

I have had an interest in aviation since my dad had built and flown several homebuilt aircraft. Last summer I was able to ride in a Van’s Aircraft RV-6. (A short video clip is on the Activities page.) From an early age I have had the privilege of visiting Stennis Space Center no less than 8 times, Johnson Space Center twice, and most recently Kennedy Space Center. I was able to attend a summer camp at Stennis as a high school student sparking an interest in programming, thus CAD is one of my favorite areas of mechanical engineering. I am proud of my 988 hrs of community service and I am a patriot with unwavering support for our military. I would be pleased to work for a company that holds similar values of giving back to the community and supporting military families and veterans.

As a student with a passion for the defense and aerospace industry, I would appreciate your consideration and ask that you review my education and experience which make me a valuable employee.

As a senior in majoring Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Aerospace Engineering, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2020, I look forward to a career in the field of aerospace and defense.

My relevant qualifications include:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree program from an ABET Accredited University majoring in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated academic excellence with a GPA of 3.056.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills having developed and delivered presentations clearly to small groups as well as presenting to groups of up to 200.

  • U.S. Citizen, eligible to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Leadership experience - having planned and led a 4 man expedition for 5 days through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

  • Community involvement -  having earned both state and national recognition for community service in addition to The Congressional Award.

  • Relevant Skills and Coursework - Mechanics of Materials, Heat Transfer, Matlab, SolidWorks CAD design tool, Familiar with Design and Fabrication, Basic Fabrication, MIG Welding, PADI Certified.

  • Active participation in extracurricular and on-campus activities.

My record of schoolwork, Pathways internship with the U.S. Air Force, and volunteer activities demonstrate attributes that make me a valuable employee. Thank you for taking the time to review my resume and consider me for this position. You can contact me with any questions by emailing me at Thomas.Sean.A@gmail.com or by phone at (225)747-0524.
